Great looking Stanley No 5 size jack plane with extra iron $60. Both irons are sharp and ready to work. The body is made from steel instead of cast iron which made them much more durable against drops and other abuses. Rosewood knob and tote. Made in 1940 according to the stamp on the 2" iron. The Stanley steel planes are lighter than the cast iron ones and make great scrub planes. I've included an extra iron ground and sharpened as a scrub iron.
See the pictures. All the S5's were painted and I repainted and baked this one. Someone before me had stripped all the paint. Tote has some repairs - a clean mid-body break and a crack near the toe - but it's solid and well done. I don't think the lever cap is original to an S5 but it is perfectly functional.
