Biography
Some 40 years ago I built a mandolin and 35 years ago I learned to use basic woodworking machines while building display cases at Lowie Museum in California. Then I joined the Foreign Service and had very little chance to do any woodworking for the next 29 years, as I moved from country to country. My photo is from my last visit to what we called the VIP lounge at Kabul International Airport. ) Now I look forward to making up for lost time, working with both hand and power tools, to make furniture, household improvements and even - someday - a better mandolin.
