MAKE A SIMPLE BOX - A CLASS FOR WOMEN

Instructors: Kim Montagriff & Pat Wheeler

Shop Attendant: Carol Boyd

Prerequisite: Core Tool Certification

General Description:

Box-making combines the skills of good woodworking with creativity, and is a foundation to much in woodworking.  In this class we'll cover the fundamentals of making a simple, yet elegant box. This class is ideal for someone who has completed Core Tool Certification and would like to gain more practice on the Table Saw and other Core Tool machines.  You will leave with a completed box and the knowledge and confidence to make more.

You'll mill your lumber, cut parts and miter sides, glue it together, fit a drop-in top and bottom, and finish with a decorative top pull. This will be done with the machines and sleds currently available to members in Open Shop.

Materials:  Provided: wood, blue tape, decorative paper, glue. Milk paint will be available as another decorative option.

Bring your PPE: hearing protection, eye protection, dust mask.

Tools Used:  Jointer, Planer, Table Saw, Bandsaw, Drum Sander
