Gathering of the Guilds - Show
The Gathering of the Guilds (GOTG) is one of the largest art shows in the Northwest. Six Guilds and hundreds of artists come together to display and sell their custom made and unique creations at Oregon Convention Center. The Guild has the largest booth in the show and this is our biggest community event of the year. We use this large gathering to showcase our skills as woodworkers and the benefits the Guild can bring to the community and provide information to prospective Guild members.
Each day of the show, we need help in our sales booth and a small demonstration area adjacent to the booth. In the booth, we talk to customers and answer their questions. You will get questions about our products or about the Guild. It's fun, can be fast paced and is a great volunteer opportunity. The show is especially exciting for new members to get to know the Guild's many accomplishments! Joe Wheaton is the volunteer coordinator and will be there to help you. If you have any questions contact him at joe.wheaton@goow.org or 614-893-6219.
Here is what you will do. Play with toys. That's right, we play with the toys to demonstrate how they work. When not playing, we talk with customers. We will have descriptions of all the products, and one of our leaders will be there to help. There will be at least one person who is cashier, so most volunteers will not be involved with the money.
We also need a couple of people to do the demonstrations, which are usually making sachet bags from shavings of aromatic cedar that we plane on site. This is a good activity to get the people, especially kids, to experience "woodworking." Who knows they might e future Guild members.
Please join us!
Please note: We are in Hall D, which is near the elevators and above the parking garage.
