Requirements: Intro to the Guild

Topic for June 29, 2023:   Tune up your hand plane and create a flat surface

Bring your hand plane (bench plane or block plane) and get some help getting it tuned up to make fine shavings and flat surfaces. Please bring a plane that has been cleaned up and sharpened as best you can. If you don’t have a plane to bring, you can use one that is in the Studio.

We will learn how to setup and sharpen a plane to be able to create a smooth, flat surface. Then we will learn how to use the plane to create flat surfaces which are square to each other. Note: bring your square and marking tools.
