Third Session: In this session, the skills are learned to create a complex piece of furniture.

  • Testing different design concepts
  • Making designs ready for construction and assembly
  • Making cut lists and layouts

ADDITIONAL HELP:  Students will have access to the instructor after each class session to ask “how-to” questions as they work on their own designs.

Tools, equipment needed for class :

* Windows or Mac computer with reasonably-current processor, graphics card and memory (e.g., no more than 5 years old). A tablet will not work.

* Create a free account at Trimble here: https://id.trimble.com/ui/sign_up.html

* Download and install the free version of SketchUp Make 2017 here: https://www.sketchup.com/download/all(Note: There are differences between the paid SketchUp version and the free version, and we will be learning and using only the free version)

* Download and install Zoom here: https://zoom.us/support/download (Note: Using Zoom within a browser will not work, you must install the Zoom client)

Strong Recommendations

* 4K or higher resolution monitor. While a laptop will work, you might struggle with smaller screens

* Strongly recommend you use a mouse with a middle wheel, such as a Logitech M705 or  Logitech MX Master. Using only a laptop trackpad as a mouse will significantly slow down your learning and productivity.
