Core Tool Practice TRAINING

Trainers: Gary Weeber, Carol Boyd

In an effort to bridge the gap between training and use, the Guild is offering a 3- hour, informal, practice session..  A minimum of two volunteer trainers will be present to provide hands-on assistance as you take this opportunity to practice using the Core Tools.  One or more of the trainers will also be the on-duty Shop Attendant.

A total of eight (6) slots are available to any member who has completed the Core Tools Certification Training and has not yet spent time in the Guild Shop.

Come in.  Get advice and support.  Practice using some of the machines and get more comfortable with the use of the machines in our shop environment.

If you wish to work on parts of a personal project, that is fine.  The goal is to practice using machines in a way that will ensure their safe use and make you more comfortable using them.

Requirements:

Shop Time Card

Shop card (machine skills certification)

Liability Waiver

User Reservation for Shop Time

You must have the following safety equipment:

  • ANSI Z87.1 rated safety glasses if using the machine room.
  • N95 or better dust mask.  These are generally optional but may be required by the Shop Attendant if they determine the air quality will require it.
  • Hearing protection

Please Review the material Guide and Bring all Consumables required for your project.

There is a high demand for this event. If you are unable to attend please cancel your reservation immediately so the next person on the waiting list can be registered and notified as soon as possible

Please notify the SA if you are not going to arrive at the beginning of the shift or are not planning to stay for the full shift.

Multnomah County is instituting a mask requirement again and the Guild is following suit. The county expects the requirement to be in place through the end of the year. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are implementing additional safety requirements for those using the shop. Before you arrive for your scheduled session, please ensure the following:

  • You are in good health, not living with anyone who is ill, have not been exposed to anyone with COVID-19 in the last 14 days
  • You have a face covering without an exhaust valve. This must cover your nose, mouth, and chin and is to be worn at all times. The Guild does have some for sale at the shop but we recommend you bring your own.
  • You are willing to abide by the requirements.
